Ray Dailio writes briefly on the importance of understanding how habits work and recognizing why it’s so important to form good habits that help us achieve our goals.
The way he describes the way we can either choose to be in a habit of staying the same (inertia) or a habit of changing all the time really knocked me over the head. This is so important: this idea that the most successful people are in a habit of constantly changing and tweaking. And they grow and learn as a result. It’s not that we form one good new habit, we just work on creating the habit within us that is constantly forming new, good habits and striping away failed efforts and bad behaviors that don’t help our “higher selves” get what we want.
