Margaret Molly noted in this video interview at Percolate’s Transition’s conference that when advance in a large enough organization you get to a place where you’re not actually doing much of the work at all, you’re mostly reviewing, and this is a “dangerous place to be” because we all “need a laboratory.”
I really liked this. Even if your job becomes less creative there is no one stopping you from setting up experiments in life, from “opening up your own lab.”
This is why I have little patience for creative people complaining that because of their current role they aren’t able to “express their creativity.” There are so many opportunities to be creative and experiment with new ideas inside and outside of work.
