Instead of telling people your religion or political party how about just list out all your values.

Mine would be something like: innovation, seeking, freedom, learning, growing, adventure, daring, loving, helping.

Words that describe party affiliation should be completely avoided. I get that humans have an evolutionary pull towards joining packs but an individual’s understanding of what democrat or republican means is so varied that the words become very mirky. People’s understanding of the major religions can, I think, be subject to the same issue/criticism.
